I spend my days building, maintaining, and repairing small-ish to mid-size (and larger if need be) business infrastructure. What does that mean, you ask? Well.. I take things like this..
And this..
And this..
... and bash them together until they start to do things like run Active Directory, Exchange, and various SQL services. Then I make those services do useful things like allow people to login to computering machines and create datas. Datas I then make sure don't get destroyed in horrible catastrophes like meteor showers and Godzilla attacks.
My specializations are in converged infrastructure, and physical network infrastructure. I am also proficient in an ever increasing number of IT realms making me (in my own somewhat delusional opinion) one of the greatest crime-fighters ever.. I mean.. a pretty awesome IT generalist.
This one time I spent 24 hours in a closet building a temporary datacenter from spare parts because some flood or something cut off power to our primary site and we didn't have a good disaster recovery solution at the time.
In my free time, I do much the same as during the day. Only on a smaller, cheaper scale, and in my basement. I've built an entire Vmware virtual environment including block storage via home-brew iSCSI SAN equipment. If you ask nice I'll show it to you.
Ok.. I'll just show it to you..
Pretty neat huh?
Also, here's a picture of one of my dogs. Dexter. He's a freeloader and would like a job too.
